The Transamerica Reinsurance Division (TARe) is a marketing unit of Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company (TOLIC), and one of the largest life reinsurers in the world, based on in force volume and assumed new business.(1) TARe offers broad capabilities in risk, capital and expense management to help companies make their products and businesses more competitive and profitable.

TARe writes business through TOLIC and Transamerica Financial Life Insurance Company in New York, as well as offshore affiliates, which include Transamerica International Re (Bermuda) Ltd. and Transamerica International Reinsurance Ireland Limited.

In the U.S., the customer focus is on large, primary insurance carriers and other significant businesses in the financial services arena. Internationally, the emphasis is on local insurance companies and internationally based subsidiaries of U.S. insurance companies.

TARe provides reinsurance products and services directly to ceding company clients, rather than through brokers. This direct relationship produces an expense advantage and a more complete understanding of risks, while contributing to more favorable underwriting results and deeper, longer-lasting customer relationships.

With its primary marketing office in Charlotte, North Carolina, TARe supplies reinsurance and product consulting and development solutions to leading life insurance companies in North America, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. The Asia-Pacific Regional Office in Hong Kong supports country offices in Taiwan, Korea and Japan. The Latin America Regional Office near Miami supports country offices in Chile and Mexico.

TARe is distinguished by its knowledge and experience in assessing and pricing mortality risk, underwriting facultative business, and developing reinsurance solutions for the primary market that facilitate growth and risk management in a demanding environment. TARe differentiates itself by combining life reinsurance with high-value services, such as product development, private label term life services and an automated underwriting engine with associated product development.
