Attention: please be aware that a person or group of persons is perpetrating a mail fraud scam using the Transamerica name. Transamerica Life Insurance Company is not affiliated with a Consumer Promotion Draw or with any of the parties associated with it. We have notified law enforcement agencies and are working to put an immediate stop to this matter.

As part of this scam, people are notified by US Mail that they have been chosen as a winner of a Consumer Promotion Draw. A counterfeit check, provided with the mailing, is said to cover the payment of taxes associated with the prize. The recipients are instructed to call a claim agent for instructions for collecting their prize and paying taxes through MONEYGRAM® or WESTERN UNION®.

If you receive one of these letters, you are urged neither to respond nor to attempt to cash the fraudulent check. Please be advised that counterfeit checks will not be honored and your bank will require you cover the loss if the check is deposited.
