COURSEWORK There are three major blocks of courses over the length of the two-year program. Classes in session will meet on average, one day per week during the first year and taper off in the second year of the program to allow candidates more time to concentrate on their rotational assignments. Over the course of the two years, candidates will be exposed to a variety of classes (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Operations, Sales & Marketing), professional growth training (e.g., Strategic Meetings, Professional Presentations, Negotiations), visits to other AEGON locations, team projects to help solve a current business challenge, and opportunities to meet the leaders from various business units in the company. Block one (months 1-12): Courses focus on core company, industry knowledge, and basic skill sets central to the company's success. Block three (months 19-24): Curriculum emphasis shifts toward a series of industry and company specific seminars focused on critical topics and leadership issues. During this block, you work with your mentor, coaches and program director to plan your final placement at the completion of the program. Career planning is determined by your individual talents and interests, company opportunities, your program performance, and your networking skills. You will be advised to secure placement that continues to stretch your professional development. A two-week kick-off to build teamwork, meet the company leaders, and get a broad overview of different functional areas Knowledge focused on major industry segments and product lines Core skill sets including project management presentation and financial analysis specific to AEGON and the industry Block two (months 13-18): Courses shift toward managing and influencing people with special emphasis on building consensus and motivating performance.
